Wow....luck was on the side of all the other road users.
Wow....luck was on the side of all the other road users.
Wow indeed.
What the dash cam doesn't show is the grade, it's reasonably steep coming down to that Queen St intersection, the speed he is carrying is crazy.
It looks to me like he's grabbed the right lane and then realised the traffic has stoped.
I don't think he ever intended to do the left turn.
Even the mud carters would be ashamed to call him one of thiers.
Never let it be said that I'm a defender of mud carters but, when they're being paid peanuts by the load, they have to go like a cut snake to scratch out a meagre living.
The dash cam footage was taken from another truck.
Note how I managed to include content in line with the forum purpose. [wink11]
thats the problem with mud carters, alot r owner drivers, they race back to get as many loads in 4 the day....
Gives ur reg truck drivers a bad name....
The employee drivers are also under a lot of pressure to do as many loads as possible.
I don't care what pressure they're under, they have a responsibility to drive to the conditions and as required by the traffic acts without endangering other road users. Many of these short haul drivers are idiots and we see many of them on the freeway in Perth, hogging the right lane, tailgating, no indication of intentions etc.
And there's no police to control them or other lunatics.
AlanH.
Hogging the right lane? Why does that make them "lunatics"? Apart from a very few places, trucks have as much right to be in the right hand lane as anybody else, and if they are maintaining the speed limit what exactly is the problem? Trucks have just as much right to overtake as you do. Often you'll find, if you look, that the truck has gone into the right hand lane for a reason, and it's the impatient idiots in the cars preventing them moving back.
Yep and with trucks limited to 100 k trying to pass some spanker doing 95 can take a while in the right lane :rulez:
So my thoughts on this idiot is yes he was wrong and it was reckless is the penalty too harsh in my opinion yes .
Criminals get less for worse offences[wink11]
