Not bad! That labour charge of $60 an hour is cheap by today's standards.

Thats not a hugely bad figure for a Land Rover in all honesty. Apart from head machining and labour, its the usual stuff and the cost isn't too bad. Can I ask what happened to the motor for it to need a new head gasket(s)? Did it overheat or something else?
    Cheers

just bought it and had a new water pump on but the bloke who i bought it off had been driving it with a bust water pump which might of caused it to over heat and Warp the head.
Also the Mechaninc said he had seen a couple of 2000 discovery with the same problem and found that the head had been lose from the factory.

Which ever one it was lets hope I have seen the last of the bad luck. :!:

Skimmed the head ??? however much that is.

Also got a bit worried with the break light coming on. Turned out to be a faulty fluid level indicator, Unplug it problem solved
