Bob Jane T-Mart quote of the year

When looking for at tyre at the local Bob Jane today for my 2000 Discovery.
Was looking for a tyre with a higher wall for my 18" Rims this was what I was told.

"Will not be able fit a higher wall tyre on the 18" rim as the discovery is and urban 4wd not designed for off road 4wheel driving"

And "smaller rims would not fit as they would catch on the disks."

Took a look inside the workshop as I walked looked like a 15year old off the Simpsons you know the one that works in all the shops with the squeaky voice changing tyres.

8O Glad I got a while before I need to put new tyres on

He's probably used to the X5's, ML's and Porsches.

Did you say, "Son, this is a LandRover" and smack him over head.
    Cheers

For Heaven's sake, do not repeat that on any non-Rover forum. The inmates would jump on it.

    Hi Welshman
Get in touch with Richard from Belmont Tyrepower,he is a top bloke, tell him you were recommended by a fellow landynut with a Black Disco2 8) 8) 8) 8) He also owns Richards Tyrepower Osborne park. When I priced tyres he was the cheapest by a long shot, and his service was excellent.I only chanced upon him as the missus wanted to go to "Bird World" over the road,I went and checked out tyres whilst she checked out her feathered friends
You may be better off getting a set of 16" Disco 2 rims for off roading, they WILL fit over your brakes and you will get a better tyre size range. There are alloy sets on ebay at the moment, the stronger steel wheels are as rare as rocking horse poo,Ive got 1 and would love a set of 4 to match.I HAVE A SET OF PRISTINE ALMOST BRAND NEW DISCO 1 RIMS I WOULD CONSIDER SWAPPING IF ANYBODY IS INTERESTED. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Some people are better off standing there looking stupid than opening their mouth and removing all doubt. The fact that he would even think that, let alone say it, tells me he should be banished from the automotive retail sector never to be allowed to return. Total dipstick. We should send him out with hiline.
