I was just a short way into the taste test when a dodgy Abalone gave me the most horrendous dose of Tonsillitis. On Doctors orders I may no longer taste Abalone, so I have to outsource this part of the project.
Tasmania has the biggest and the tastiest Abalone in the world. Countries to our near North are farming Abalone. These are small, rubbery and not very tasty at all. That is most likely what you've been dished up in the Fish and Chip Shop.
I'm sure Flathead, Hammerhead, Loggerhead, Lumberjackhead, Shovelhead etc, are all fine, even Leatherjacket, if that's your bent, but you shouldn't show your hand until you've sampled the delights of Tasmania.
