    General Grabber Problems

    Attention Defender drivers..

3 of my Grabbers have bulges in the sidwalls. Bit of a worry. The other 2 probably do as well, on the inside which I haven't checked yet.

The bulges are big enough to throw a shadow, thats how I spotted the 1st one. In full light they're hard to see, but run your fingers around the sidwall and they become obvious.

These tyres have done less than 5000 kms. But are 2 years old. They've been under the house, cool and dry, out of the sun.

So they've got to go. These are my camping tyres. Can't trust them now with any load and/or highway speeds.

Presumably theres a bad batch from 2003. So I'd suggest you check them.

    Regards
    Max P

    Bulges in General Grabbers.

Mine have got shallow indentations from the rim to tread but when I asked the main stealer they said it was normal. I don't normally believe a word they say but have checked out other Defenders fitted with them and they're all the same.
Mine have done 46000klms so far which has included the GRR and part of the Kalumbaru Rd and still have excellent tread depth. The spare has a couple of side treads lifted but I used some vulcanising glue stuff and stuck them back down again. They went well from Broome to Perth but it's now just the spare until I have to get new tyres.
Pity is they don't seem to be available any more.
    Happy motoring.

    Hey Zook

Ya don't think there's a connection between those two statements.

    Ahh, truck doctor, heal thyself.

I was checking out one of the UK Land Rover forums and the level of mechanical knowledge was just woeful. Lots more of them, but we're better when it comes to tech stuff.

    Cheers

Mine did get some minor bulges, but lasted 80,000km, they are now on the camper trailer. 8)
