Thread: Disco owners don't wave

Hey zook, the one finger is becoming a bit of an issue round here, copped one from a dude in a little korean thing who tailgated me at 120ks for about 5 ks today, I turned left and he kept going with the hand out the window

i'm thinking of making a bumper sticker which says:

I BRAKE, YOU PAY

Yep I have used the fog lights - they work a treat!

Yeah true.

I've never had a 'current model' Rangie driver return the wave.

Instead I get the 'Who was the peasant waving at me from that strange looking truck of a make I don't recognise' (the Defender, of course). :roll:

I always hit the brakes a little hard, that moves them back a bit, also annoys them no end.

Hi Quiggers and disco95, tailgating is a whole new subject and if you want to see no-brainers who think tailgating is the the only way to drive, come to Queensland.

You can be driving along the the M1, not another vehicle in sight, 3 other unused lanes beside you and you can lay money that if there is another vehicle behind you, they will be tailgating.

I’m sure half the drivers up here are all short lighted.

The local insurer has on different occasions raised the problem in their rag and their figures show that of all the different types of accidents that result in a bingle, tailgating amounts to 40% of all claims which shows it’s an absolute epidemic.

Don’t hit your brakes, because if the no-brainer hits you, your at fault.

If you want to pi## someone off who is tailgating you, either slowly decrease your speed by about 10 kph, then slowly increase your speed and keep cycling your speed continually and if they are really close just slowly reduce your speed to about 20 kms below the speed limit. Even if they don’t get the message, at least you will reduce the amount of damage they will cause if you have to hit the anchors.

It’s an offence to brake unnecessarily but it is not an offence to drive at any speed you want below the marked speed limit. if they are trying to force to go faster, go slower.

I find my rear facing camp light works a treat with these idiots........and when coupled with the fogs, to date, has got my message across.

Generally though, I am flabbergasted at the way people drive in Qld. As Drivesafe says, people will tailgate you on an empty highway......out of habbit more than anything I think. I am from Scotland and there is a marked difference in general road sense where people back home almost always leave a reasonable gap between cars (a few idiots aside of course)AND ALWAYS PULL OVER TO THE OUTSIDE LANE WHEN APPROACHING AN ON RAMP......HOW HARD CAN IT BE? Very dangerous to have to slow to a stop on an on ramp and then try and join taffic moving at 110k's.
Anyway I could talk at length about Qld road issues, but I wont.

Have considered the wave also when out and about and will start it from now on.....to any and all LR's that is!!
