Was driving along Hway 31 the other day and another Fender driver coming the other way on a divided road flicked his lights, stuck out his hand and waved, I did the same.

Sunshine Coast smiles on Discos. Got one wave today and one yesterday.

What is wrong with being a silverback. Keeps you warm in winter.

Since we got our SII we have lived in four different states and driven it through all mainland states. My observations (tongue firmly in cheek):

1. They always wave in the NT and WA (although in the NT it is a bit risky as that means that there is no hand left on the steering wheel (unless they drop their tinnie...)

2. QLD is good for a wave as long as you are more than 500km away from the SE urban sprawl and the Disco is not a Grey Nomad 'escape vehicle' with a superannuant driver with Vic plates and an excessively large caravan in tow.

3. South Australian's wave at anything and anyone (haven't worked out if that is as a result of innate friendliness, a desire to be loved or some creepy link to that State's reputation for bizarre mass murders..).

4. Victoria is 50/50 - never bother in the inner east or south as they are just slumming it whilst the Range Rover is in for a service.

5. Sydney - they do not wave as:

a. It might be construed as a sign of friendliness (very uncool), or
b. They might have to let go of their tight grip on another appendage.. 8O

Wouldn't a Disco be too small:?: They normally drive a Hyundai or a Corolla, then retire at 80, and decide to get a F250, Winnebago or Converted Coach Bus and drive off into the sunset (most of the time with a car licence). 8O

Good point - except I don't think they ever get into the sunset - too slow at 65kmh

Apart from the above mentioned F250 and Winnebago, a Disco would be about the only 4X4 rated to tow their oversized vans.
