    Interesting 130 Defender idea...

    G'day all,

I was talking to a mate on the weekend who tells me he was talking to the people at MR Automotive, and the story unfolds that one bloke was very impressed with the 130 Defender but he wanted a very particular setup.

So he calls LRA in Sydney and tells them he wants a 130 Defender, automatic, with the TDV6 engine.

LR says "Yup, we can do it but it'll take 5 months (because it's gotta be specially made in Solihull) and cost you $60k+ - is that ok?"

"Sure." says the bloke "Do it."

Now I only hope that this is true (would be a killer Defender ) as it shows that LR hasn't completely forgotten where it came from in that with the original vehicles one of their main selling points was that you could order them & have them custom built however you felt like!

Man I'd love to see that TDV6 automatic 130 Defender though :-)

That would be one sweet vehicle. I have trouble believing that he even found a dealer interested in selling him a Defender, let alone a custom job 8O

    He sure it wasn't a TD5 130 with Auto? That I can believe but a TDV6 ... :?

We've seen many reports that the new engine in the Defender will be the Ford derived 2.7L 4-cyl diesel as found in the transporter. I doubt if they've even tested the TDV6 in a Defender and I bet it won't be seen in the current model but rather in the "new" fender ... still years away.

Still .. would be the ultimate Defender in my books .. but I'd stick with the 110

With what would you bait your breath to catch a Landie like that?

I suspect it will be better to wait with bated breath.
