Having reached Kelsey's goal is fantastic, and the timing is good. Unfortunately her bike had a failure this week. It does get a pounding. The good thing is it happened during training and not on the race. She is now in a position to get her new bike. And then put hours into it before Canada.
As far as me being able to go. Its now a lot more likely but still not a given.
That very generous donation was from one of my wife's work clients. We don't know him at all, but Kelsey did call him yesterday to thank him.
As far as I'm concerned this is still definitely an AULRO achievement.
We still both so very much thank all of you, Its now much more likely I might go. Will be positive and renew my passport as well as hers.
Thanking you all again
Kenley

Kelsey very excited, her bike has arrived, nearly finished building it and she should have it after work today. Big maiden ride planned for tomorrow. Better photos later.
Accomodation has been booked. After reading Homestars airbnb nightmare I hope it goes better for us. It's a farm stay in the country about half an hour from Penticton, it looks good and is very reasonable.

Look at the size of that sprocket. She'll climb mountains with that low gear.

No helmet. We know. But couldn't deny her a quick ride. New helmet hasn't arrived yet and we were not on a public road.
Absolutely loves her new bike. Thank you AULRO.
She's now off with her helmet getting a fide in before dark.

Thanks, Kenley. Love seeing her name on the bike!
I only went into this thread far enough to find the funding link, and then to the end to see the latest. You had me at the first post. Glad to be a almost insignificant contributor to this very worthy cause. And heartened by the support and generosity of the AULRO-ians. I hope she smashes this challenge and you can be front and center to experience it with her. You both deserve that. Good luck :)
To everyone who has donated. Thank you. It has worked
I will be in Canada to watch Kelsey compete.
Passports have been paid for.
Registration and uniforms are paid for
Accomodation is paid for
Amazing new bike is paid for.
Because I am now going Gay will be using her long service entitlements for travel so that's quite a saving on the airfare.
To say there is much excitement in our household is a bit of an understatement.
Fortunately my wife works very well under pressure. She works for an airline and is an ex travel agent. She is going to organise the travel side of it, but cannot do anything about US or Canada visas until we have passports and they are maybe still two weeks away. Same for the tickets.
Kelsey's race manual has arrived. Although only in two races it's a busy time for her and I. Especially her (I'm her taxi) besides the usual race briefings there are a lot of ceremonies and social events included for her. It's going to be such an experience for both of us.
Her coach is ramping up her training for the next two weeks. She seems to be doing alright. Yesterday we had her first race in ages and last before heading to Canada. She finished second by five seconds in her age group for the Springfield Duathlon. It's been a while since her last event, it was great to be back in the atmosphere Can only imagine what it's going to be like at worlds.
Financially it's still a stretch, but you have covered so much that I can now get really excited about going and not just the mixed emotions of having to have been the one that dropped Gay and Kelsey at the airport.

Thanks John, that was easy, I'd noticed a few bikes with names and asked. It's from VeloInk - Stickers for People
Was about US$8 delivered for I think 8 stickers.
