Now I have had this idea for a movie: I'm currently talking to Mark Lamprell about it. It will be called "Once Upon a Time in the Inner West".

    Any thoughts?

Too much time spent in coffee shops.

Back when I first moved to Leichhardt some fella got shot in the street. I was browsing in the bookshop when a journo came in, started asking questions about how we felt for our safety.

Both me and bookseller said we felt very safe thanks, guys who shoot each other in Leichhardt aren't doing it by accident and no bystanders are going to get injured.

It just isn't the same these days.

Bring back Joe Porto Fino - Bordello, horses, illegal gambling, cheapest pizza in Leichhardt '89.

    Cheers

Now I have a mate who is writing a history of Bronte at the moment (the Beach not Emily). From what you have just suggested Leichardt could be the next subject. She's covered the Eureka Stockade ("The Irish at Eureka: Rebels or Riff Raff") and Women in the Vietnam War....interesting.

Ah well, my area is very small.

First three weeks of the first fleet in Sydney. From the arrival Botany Bay to the day after the Southerly buster and electrical storm in Camp Cove.

Uneconomical to make into a film, but perfect for a MA thesis.

    Cheers
