    Abandon Vehicle?

We have several vehicles stored here. Some pay store rents and others don't. We have an ex-mil here that we cannot contact the owner of. The question is when is a vehicle considered abandon?

Laws around this are VERY specific. I would go and look at the Qld Gov website, Consumer Affairs or whatever you banana benders call it, and search. ANY breach renders you liable to ugly lawsuits, which I guess you'd rather avoid.

I was just, I mean in the last hour, looking at the Victorian laws re this, and they are eye watering. I most certainly would NOT take advice from this forum, lovely as they all are, on something like this, if Victoria is anything to go by.

There's a bit online about this. Have you googled?
What do you ultimately want? Have It removed, or sold, or kept for yourself?

As an alternative, there's some legal mumbo jumbo here, which is more likely than not what you'd want to follow as best you can.
Pro tip- speak to the police, a solicitor or someone offline who knows.

    Failing that, some light reading:

    IMPOUNDING ACT 1993
Mainly for impounding abandoned goods in public places.

AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW AND FAIR TRADING ACT 2012 (NO. 21 OF 2012)
    Refer to Part 4.2.

No rush, said vehicles have been here for many years and are forum members as well. they will get the hint soon enough. The GS is another matter.

You want serious help, call a lawyer. Unless there is one hiding on this forum, you are putting yourself at serious risk. The fact that they are forum members won't help you if you do the wrong thing, and the other party decide to pursue.

There is only one way to find out, completely, what your responsibilities are, and that is to test them at law. Question without notice: do you want to?

Get legal advice. Logan council might also be able to advise.
