Yeh they did a good job... The snake handling dont bother me but the Ashfield/Bassendean connection is weird....
Mind you I dont like snakes, but I dont run, I just keep them away from home...
King brown, dugites, Tiger snakes, Guardas, all scare the **** out of me and they are the ones i've been close to...Others but cant remember much, probably running too fast to remember...
I have a couple of big pythons living under and around the old house.
They do give the Missus a bit of a fright every now and then But at least she now knows the difference between them and the dugites and doesn't bash them about with a shovel anymore [bigwhistle]
I can't understand why people deliberately drive over a snake when they see it on the road, It's not as if it is going to attack a thumping big 4WD.
I have lived at my property at Kilmore for about 15 years, never seen as many snakes as here. We get a lot of tigers and I have seen a few browns. During the last drought they were all coming up to the house looking for water which is a bit more uncomfortable than when they are out in the paddocks. They do try to stay out of your way if they know you are there. I think they are just something you learn to live with, and you keep your eyes open as you walk.
I have one Tiger snake that has reduced my horse by 3 so far... If the horse where at home, the snake would be gone...
But he shares the paddock and must be a bad tempered sod, dont like nosey horses...
No point killing a Tiger snake, another just moves in to replace it...
Only time I kill them away from the house, is when you get chased and I have only had that happen once... By a Tiger snake of course, ours down here have bad attitudes and no manners...
