Back on after trip to Qld.

Got back last night from a trip to Queensland to visit a dying friend. Drove up via the New England and back via the Newell.
Only problem with the 110 for the trip was that it rained heavily on the way up near Glen Innes and I got wet feet. Must try and find where it is getting in - I think it is new, but it is so long since it has rained much here I am a bit unsure.

Not a bad result for a twenty year old vehicle with over four hundred thousand on the clock, and the engine untouched, although I must admit performance is down a bit.

On a different subject - don't Queensland trucks have to fit speed limiters? Travelling at exactly the speed limit of 110 on the Newell using the cruise control I was passed several times by semis and B-Doubles going at least twenty kph faster.
But generally speaking the traffic was light and well-behaved going both directions.

condolences for your friend, lot of it going around at the moment.

I thought the speed limiters were long gone. I've had way too many experiences in NSW with trucks passing me at twenty or so over the limit in the past couple of years.

I don't think they show the speed limitied signs on the back anymore either.

It got to the point where I reckoned they must have been gotten rid of rather than bypassed because so many drivers were in such a hurry.

Sorry to hear about your mate.

As far as i'm aware they don;t have speed limiters or the speed restricted signs on the back anymore - but there is a 1800 number that you can call to report unsafe driving.

It was very noticeable that the trucks doing more than about 5kph over 100 were all Qld registered, although these were in a minority away from Brisbane. As far as I know speed limiters are still required on heavy vehicles in NSW - you occasionally hear discussions about tampering with them.

a few trucks that passed me last time i drive up to the whitsundays definitely were not limited.... it was around 3am, i was doing around a constant 150kph and was being passed by trucks going up hills 8O 8O 8O

Sorry to hear baout your friend. Did the opposite trip fro a funeral last week via new England down and Pacific home.

There were plenty of QLD trucks doing 120-130+, and constantly passing other trucks and B-Doubles 8O 8O
