    Would you hand over the keys to your car, new or not??

    Dilemna, and I have to be careful as my partner likes to sometimes read the forums and check up on what I am writing , plus enjoys some of the topics that are in here. I just copped a bit of a basting and am interested in what others would do, given the same situation. Now I think whether your LR is new or you have had it for donkeys years is irrelevant, as a mans house is his castle, then a mans landy is his steed. Correct??

    My partner, who let me point out somehow seems to be the one whose car gets a scratch in the shopping centre wanted to borrow my beastie today to run her ( and I know this sounds bad, really bad ops: ) mum and grandnan, plus assortment of kids, from the station and back as it has the 7 seats, otherwise would have to do 2 runs in her car.

    Also my car had to go in for a warranty issue so I was without if for over 24 hrs, again over 24 hrs, so was pining for it, so to go another day without being in it was almost too much to bear 8O . Am I justifying myself enough yet??? Well, I didn't let her have the car as I am still in that "its only new phase and a bit precious about it" and well its my disco and I love the feel of being in it. Don't get me wrong the XR6 is a cracker, but having being belted for 6 in the latest hail storm and looking like cellulite on wheels, wasn't keen on that prospect either. Thoughts, am I in the wrong?? Seriously need to garnish some support for my position, but being an adult can also cope with objective criticism. Doctor anyone?? Anyone.................. 8O . Otherwise have a great weekend peoples, will post some pics next week as intending to take the beastie for a bit of offroad around my place ( I say offroad around home, she just laughs and says driving through a field aint the same )

    An interesting dilemma!

    Do you keep the landy all to yourself so as to enjoy every minute of ownership?

    Or do you allow someone else to experience the ecstacy of driving one and run the risk of setting a precedent. :?:

    Yeah, I know I use the term "adult" loosely 8) Defenderzook, but in terms of sharing Jamo, that is a different kettle of fish . Its that bad that even tonight we are going out for dinner and movie ( as we have been able to palm off all our kids for a change) and Im letting her DRINK. Why??? Cause I want to drive my disco. I'm sure with time as my youngest is learning that one must share, but you have to feel comfortable to do so, and I guess I just aint ready yet . Geez, so far my case aint looking flash :wink:

    I am with Hiline. Whilst yours is a beautiful looking thing. It is only a car.
    I guess you have insurance don't you.

    Mate let her enjoy it as much as you do.

    You never know the benefits that might come your way from being relaxed about these things.

    I let the wife take the fender whenever she wants ... she loves driving it and always comments on the hundreds of looks she gets from other blokes on the road. Having said that ... whenever we leave the bitumen I'm in charge! :wink:

    I can understand the dilemma, but be careful, as the disco may end up not being the only thing you have to "do by yourself"

    i even let my wife drive mine in the mud with the 35ET's on :wink:

    I feel the same way stevo, but common sense dictates that I let her drive it too. Just not as much as I drive it.
    Even though Rosemay's over 10 years old, I love the feel of being behind the wheel of her.
    If the missus needs to drive it though, she does.
    As for the drinking thing, yeah I don't drink as ofte as I would if I owned a different vehicle.
