Back in the seventies All the river crossings from Barradale north were "Interesting".
All of them were single lane and some of them were just 2x 3 foot wide strips of concrete that you had to straddle that made the crossings even more "Interesting" if the river was flowing at the time

When I was working in the Pilbara and Kimberleys, I travelled from Nanutarra RH to Broome and all points west. Nanutarra to Broome was all good road and wide bridges, but off the coast, a different story. Two places I recall having to call were Doolena Gap on Marble Bar Rd. and the Nullagine R. on Rippon Hills Rd..
There was an incident at the Nullagine with three prime movers and twelve trailers, ending up hell west and crooked, and somewhat damp.

The GMs working on the ramp were bloody annoying and would even vibrate the tea in the billy no bs .But when working at full noise down in the scrub all was forgiven

When the ore was coming out of Woody Woody, on triples... I had one go past with 2 upright and one was on its back...Near Bamboo creek turn off...
The guy went past doing about 60, he kind of didn't believe me when I told him the last dog was all legs up...

There are so many funny stories from the road, hey...

I took some goats down to Perth from Geraldton, truck behind me asked if I would stop running over the goats on the road... I replied "I havent run over any goats" then it dawned on me, F%$# I'm carting them...

Pulled over quick, gate on rear of lead hadn't locked... 20 goats from last pen on bottom deck abandoned ship only to be run over by the dolly...

20 out of 2,000 didnt get noticed too much, luckily about another 12 where rejected so they just wrote off 32...Embarrassing, sad but funny too...

Roadworks on Everest, the profilers were spraying into the back of tippers while TC operated a contra-flow. I asked one of the traffic controllers, via the UHF, if they were sending the road to Perth to have the holes darned. He must have been a short bloke, as it went right over his head.
