Gerry's comments here about the new Defender don't bode well for those of us who hope it maintains connection with tradition.
Agree a dual cab would be brilliant.
Land Rover wants a luxury ute
Now 2016 D4 HSE 'Leo' and Steve the Triumph Speed Twin
Then 2010 D4 3.0 HSE 'James'
Then 2010 RRS TDV8 'Roger' w traxide DBS, UHF, Cooper Zeons, Superchips remap
Then 2010 D4 TDV6 'Jumbo' w traxide DBS
First love 2002 D2 TD5 'Disco Stu'
I read it the other way in that there's nothing in the way of a luxury dual cab in the works, might mean that the new defender will be more utilitarian.

I read it as, the new Defender will be totally different from the traditional, so the longer they leave it's release, the bigger the break will be and fewer people will be upset. Wait till the die hard as die out!!
"And Finally, no it won’t be designed for commercial, rural or military use; it will be a recreational vehicle only."
I hope that sentence doesn't imply - "the new Defender, (not as tuff, not as utilitarian, not as capable or repairable in the boonies as it could be), coming to a dealership near you in 2020. Defender in name only, like it or lump it."
