    Paj or Territory.
Reckon you would have more Paj's to choose over a Territory.
    ..aaand..
will assume the aim is to just get away in the van and vehicle after the purchase rather than spend significant additional time or coin setting up/repairing, so I wouldnt bother with anything LR in that price range. While there will be handful of tidy LR models to have in that range you will get better choice and consistency in the Paj or Territory.

In a lot of ways a Paj is a good vehicle. The downside is roadroar (!!) And lack of soul (but more character than Toyota). Cheers

I recommended that my daughter buy a PB Challenger 4x4 thinking she would buy a used one, but she bought a new one.
They have had no trouble with it and IMHO it is a good vehicle.
To me it is roughly equivalent to a D2 to drive although it has more turbo lag. .
I had a look at Carsales and there are several with about 90-100K on them for $19-20 K.
They have a rear difflock as stock.
The only neg that I can see is their towbar receiver is a little stumpy thing to avoid the fuel tank.
They have a 3000Kg tow rating.

Older son bought a petrol Territory for $6k for the family runabout and it is fine, although a bit thirsty. I would look for a diesel auto AWD myself and add airbags to the rear.

The petrol territory is a good vehicle. Back in about 2009 we drove one at work. It literally did 700km per day over 3 shifts. Never missed a beat.

My mates mechanic has told him to steer clear of Territories as they have 'problems with the rear end'....anyone know anything about that??

rear suspension bushes. Not a real major issue in the overall scheme of things.

I traveled with my 2 dogs in a ventilated box in my D1 for 4 years while touring.

No civilised person should have to travel in a dogbox. Front seat only for me.
