Havent you done that yet? I did mine not long after i bought it, i got sick and tyres of pooring oil into it every 3rd day, the seals just that bad. I was glad i bit the bullet and did it because the needle roller bearing which the sector shaft runs on were stuffed and were beginning to chew the surface out, i got to it just in time. All up to do the seal kit, a few hours of taking your time following the instructions and diagrams in the RAVE CD and 180 bucks for a seal kit and some bearings. Matt

Unaware about cars, that my brother-in-law. He makes my old man look like a mechanic 8O 8O

We just did a service on his 85 Rangie (bought off this forum a while back for $2K), hasn't been done since he bought it 6 months ago. The oil was like geatenous muck, the carbie oil pots were bone dry, the brake fluid was low as well and water, well there was a bit in there and not green either 8O

Anyway, did the service and a few other essentials (the battery wasn't secure either, able to move about the joint) and checked the timing (was pinging like ****). He couldn't believe how well it drove and had a smile from ear to ear https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Amazing a couple of hours and a few beers can do (after we finished of course), total cost about $60.

I don't get why people don't service there vehicles, then they wonder why they break down all the time.

If they could be bothered getting a manual and some basic tools they would be amazed just how easy it is to service a vehicle. Most repairs are not that hard either. I have no problem helping people out and showing them how to do it. What annoys me is when they do not want to learn, sit back and watch you do it and do not even buy the bourbon. I generally teel them it is a condition that they watch, help, learn and have a go.

It's a good way to spend some time with a freind, or, if you don't really like the individual, just think of the sabotage you can commit :twisted:

One of my favorite cars would only run on old parts. I used to have to get my sparks and leads from the trash or wreckers. The points in it were non existant. No matter what you did with the new parts it just wouldn't go. Mechanics could never understand how it managed to run :roll:

Was one of the cheapest cars I ever owned.

On the license thing I learn't in the ACT where you used to do what ever the speed limit was. Definatly a much smarter method as you do learn how the vehicle handles.

The RTA website says that it is a straight swap from a UK licence to a NSW one now - when I did it I still had to do the written and driving tests.

Either way you dont go onto P Plates!!!

If you are a permenant resident and reside in NSW theb you have 3 months to get a NSW one.

If not a PR and only here on a work visa (457 etc) then dont need a NSW one.

if you look on the webiste yes it is a straight swap only if you have held your licence for longer then 3 years anything under 3 years goes to p plates

i have had so many rows with them

its there wa@*ky law and they are sticking to it

i have to say though talking to my boyfriend the other day and we were discussing the amount of crashes there are here and there are alot compared to england which i know england is smaller but i would say we have far more dangerous roads..............

my theory is with the youngsters is as silly as it sounds i feel your speeds here when you learn to drive are to slow!!! and i know you will all argue with that for safety,,and i to agree but i feel alot of young kids learn to drive at these slow speeds....pass there test go out in the car get over confident and go fast but because they never driven a fast enough to feel the difference in handeling they rap them around lamp posts.......

i learnt to drive at 70mph on our dual carrage ways whats that here 110kmp and here on my licence i can't exceed 90kmp which to me feels like walking pace but i have no worrys about not being able to handle my car...............i don't know thats just my theory

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. That sort of thing sounds like my old man, had his first 4WD (MQ Patrol Diesel) had it for 7 years and didn't do an oil change 8O

In his defence, it started every day and that was good enough for him. Kept the oil up, water was always good and that's how my old man maintains his cars.

They are slowly bringing in all there crap though, want be long and it will all be the same. Mates at work that come from roachland are always going on how much better things are down in Mexico (NSW) with which I reply **** of back there and make it better here again.
