So, who's a dual citizen?

I don't know what I am. Maybe you guys can tell me?
Born in the UK, emigrated to Aussie, have an Aussie passport, & have official Aussie Naturalisation, and of course, I'm proud of that,....as I am of my English/Welsh heritage.

Mum was born in Thurso,,
which is apparently the Tasmania of Scotland--
except for the cheese,,
and the beer,,
and the JC,, [bigwhistle]

I don't think I qualify for dual citizenship - on my father's side, my grandfather came out from the Isle of Wight in 1870 (aged six), on my mother's side my great great grandfather and his wife ('Granny Smith") came out from East Sussex in 1839. As far as I know all other ancestors have been here at least as many generations!

I have no idea.
Born a Kiwi. Flew to Oz in an old Electra in the days when a Passport was not needed. Worked in PNG under a multiple Entry Permit.
Lived here since 1980 and dont have a Passport.
I am here to stay.

You should check your visa status as the rules have changed. You could be deported if convicted of a crime. Hundreds of Kiwis have been ordered back to NZ despite living here all their lives. Those who refuse to go are locked up on Christmas Island. I'm not joking.
I know a Kiwi married to an Aussie with kids who had been here most of her life. When they planned a trip to America she was told if she left the country she would not be able to return. Social Security and other rights are also affected.
I recommend you immediately apply for Australian citizenship. Bear in mind there are currently over 80,000 applications and average processing time is 13 months.
Strongly recommend you act immediately on this. It can happen to you.

Your background seems similar to mine, except my grandmother was adopted here and we can't trace her back.

not me.

mothers side of the family are irish and moved out to SA 1850's
fathers side is mainly english, moved out to country NSW 1880's.
can trace fathers side back to 1066AD
