How many petrol stations will be around? That's the point of difference. Eventually an entire industry will all but disappear. Not in our lifetime.

I spoke to a fella with a Tesla the other day. He said contrary to expectations the 'feel' of driving the car is actually better than in any combustion engined vehicle he has driven. Very engaging. Not removed at all. Like you're really in sync with the vehicle. It's the future. There will be charging stations at every roadhouse within 20 years + you'll be able to charge up anywhere with a power outlet. Rapid chargers will evolve, as will long distance 'jerry can' batteries. Maybe the next Defender is electric! Seems to be taking that long to build one! I like the Bollinger B1.

Britain is already requiring servos to install charging points. Instead of buying fuel we will buy charging time and go off for a snack. Charging to 80 percent should take under an hour. All good.

Human nature suggests it would not be long before the hourly charging rate exceeded the current petrol price. Which begs the question, how would the Gov. replace the fuel excise? There is no doubt there would be a government charge somewhere.

With gps logging/tracking becoming so cheap now, I would imagine a zone/time/duration algorithm would soon be feasible.
Have one device per vehicle hard wired perhaps.
Charge by useage, not ownership.
