Repco sell it for about $30 a litre with an NRMA discount, cheaper if you go when they have a 20% discount on. It's also available on ebay locally at a similar price.

I'm thinking ahead for when the D2 comes to an end. Give some serious thought to the Mahindra Pik-up. The more I look into it, the more impressed I am. It has become the vehicle of choice for many farmers in S.E. Qld. They keep them for 3 years then sell them on, often for as little as $8,000. You can pick up a new one for about $25,000. Check out the link'

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

well that's good to know ford must of lost its strangle hold on the zf oil in Australia finally then, still expensive but not stupidly so
least i can do the service on barney now with out 2nd mortgage.

what are the suspension buses like on them ? from what i found a few years ago they seem to need doing every 100'000km or so which was the other turn off

In the 270,000KM I had my D3 the lower control arm bushes were done twice, the second time perhaps unnecessarily as the knock ended up being caused by a sway bar link. I got about 140K out of the originals and the replacements weren't completely gone when I replaced them. The effort to replace was on a par with doing the ball joints on my BF ute, so not particularly difficult. You do need a big breaker bar and a large socket though (just like with the BF wheel bearings) Independent front ends will always have different maintenance requirements to live axles though. I've done two sets of ball joints on the falcon in 210,000KM as an example.

My brothers pajero ... it's old ... a '04 model from memory. it's only done 200,000kms from new. he's had a company 'van for the last 10years, so it's basically sat in his shed and rarely used as his wife doesn't drive. It's fitted with two batteries, new all terrain tires, pollyairs, brake controller... he's just purchased a F250 extra cab with a 460 big block in it ... and has done the sums ... the pajero needs to go, he's going to replace it with a small deisel wagon. The pajero is due for its cambelt service (cheap if you DIY), and over the last few months has started smelling of gas when it's switched off. He's taken it to look at (it's fitted with injected gas) and they said it'll just have a leaky injector.

He's thinking he'll advertise it for $10K as is. I was looking at it today, and I rekcon it would sail straight through a roadworthy, the donut tank (lives in the recess the 3rd row of seats folds down into) is stamped 2010 ... so they aren't due. oh, and is the bigger 24valve V6 ( 3.7 ? ).

If your interested, I'll let him know before he throws it onto gumtree/ebay.

Sorry about the music, unless you like that sort of thing....

I know that other vehicles manage to climb this, but I haven't seen one stop and then start again. D3's rock.

Just amazing what a few patches of Velcro on the tyres and hill can do.
