    Water charges

Been staying at the Bayview Caravan park in Coral Bay for a couple of days, 48 bucks a night and no water to powered sites. There are taps around you can fill containers from but the taps don't have threads you can attach a hose to.
Off to the office this morning to inquire about topping tanks up prior to leaving tomorrow. Yes you can do that.......cost is 5 bucks every 10litres!!
On top of 48 bucks and use your own water! What a rip off.
Needless to say I informed them of my thoughts and went up the pub instead.
I'll top up in Onslow town instead plus spend more money on supplies. Sod 'em. 😀

What a rip-off. Hate to think what markup that would be. Sydney water is $2 per 1000 litres.

Certainly is. I don't object to anyone making a decent return but that charge got right up my nose as excessive. Onslow still have their free tap in the main street and I'll use that tomorrow.

I must say I was pretty disappointed in Coral Bay.
The caravan park has extremely small sites and is expensive.
we went snorkeling and found the coral in the bay itself to be smashed up in many places from the tourist boats, although there were still lots of fish around.

I do like Ningaloo Reef and Exmouth and bypassed Coral Bay last time I was up that way.
I have stayed at Yardy Creek Station, at the Big 4 in Exmouth, and at the Lighthouse park and all were good . BTW , there was a tap for free water at the visitors centre when I was there.

Last time were there they had just had several years' rain in a couple of days and Exmouth was flooded, and the Ranger Station had over a metre of water through it. Several of the National Park campsites were washed away. I stayed in caravan Parks as IMHO the campsites are generally devoid of shade and windbreaks and not very appealing and in peak season you have to line up at the gate to get a site that may or may not become available..

Nevertheless , Ningaloo Reef is outstanding and we went on an expensive boat trip to swim with the whale sharks which was something to remember and snorkeled at Oyster Stacks and Turquoise Drift and a couple of other bays but those are the outstanding ones.

Aren't the taps at navy pier Exmouth not on ? Used to fill several jerry cans a week and keep that for drinking water when working at the caravan park. Also if yo part filled an old pet bottle then freeze it , the initial melt then poured off , the result was more palatable water.

    Hi,
with this lot I can use most taps. Even basin taps or taps put in at almost ground level to only allow a tea cup to fit under them.

And we do 'harvest' water responsibly and always check tank levels before 'preventing overflow'.

    Cheers

Austastar, I can see how you'd use some of those adapters, but not all. Could you give us an explanation of the use and thread size of each?
    Don.
