I have seen that on the front tyre of a Police car, when it angle parked nose in as I was walking past in Dubbo. Pointed it out to the driver "Nothing to do with me - I just drive it, the maintenance people look after that!".

Had this fellow had an accident where the bald tyre was deemed a contributing factor, you could be held partially liable.

all jokes aside, it is a worry that this vehicle was on the road in that condition, sure a blow out might only result in an inconvenience to the driver, or it could result in a fatal accident or injury to other innocent road users. Another candidate for the Darwin awards

A lot of people who drive company cars take this attitude,,, yet if they see something the mechanic has missed, then won't tell them. Something like tyres, most people don't even look at, let alone bring to the mechanics attention,, and certainly won't go out of their way to inform them early, as in before due service.

Mario, my comment was deadly serious. Roadside assist operatives would not have fitted that tyre because of liability issues.

Reminds me of the time I stopped to help a bloke in a rather flash Alfa who had a flat tyre in the car park of a local shopping centre. He had his elderly mother on board. When I ran my hand around his front tyre I cut it on the belts which were sticking out of the rubber. His spare was also bald and the other tyres weren't much better.
I encouraged him to get off to a tyre dealer and buy a full set of tyres. Apparently its important to spend a lot of money on buying a flash-looking car to impress people, but it's not important to spend any money on maintenance.

I would think that a pre start check would be Mandatory before using a vehicle at the start of a shift for the police, I know for a fact that on Most Minesites this has to be done and the paperwork filled out AND signed.

As Most Police seem to think that they are mechanical "Experts" when they put a defect Sticker on a car One would think that they would at least check their own vehicle's out before they use them [bigwhistle]

As for Old Mate driving around on bald tyres, He is just yet another tosser with No regard for his own or other road users safety regardless of where he was born.

We do them weekly with our delivery Utes. For two years now the rear view monitor has been inoperative. Failed within weeks of installing. The tarp does not secure to the cage on the drivers side , so above 40 kms it billows out. Report each week and the same no response.
The windscreens are only being looked because one driver got pulled over by main roads.
Often see other Utes going out with unroadworthy tires or spares , because there are no spare vehicles to substitute. If they can get away with it , sure as the management will try.

Yep Tell that To DeanH, who by being a good sumaritan has fitted an unroadworthy tyre to this drivers vehicle.

Our world is full of political correctness at the expense of common sense. Smart arse scumbag lawyers make a good parasitical living out of screwing people over and are IMO totally amoral. I pity them.

This bloke was, to my understanding, in need of assistance and I'd do the same again tomorrow. What's the alternative ?, to force an obviously unskilled person do a potentially dangerous job in my own driveway ? What about my duty of care ? not to mention doing the right thing for a guest in our country.

I'm not having a go at you Ian and you're quite right to bring up this aspect but I've had a gut full of the bull ****. Seems to me that the chasm between the law and justice not to mention common sense and decency is widening.

The bloke was in trouble and I helped him out that's the way I was bought up and the way I am. Let the cards fall where they may ................... :)

I'm still waiting for Mario to supply and fit LED lights to my latest Discovery, lazy bugger, swanning around in his bloody great big Pope mobile ................................... :)
