Lyonsy, it's as dry as the proverbial Dead Dingo's! Hasn't rained since June.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that, in 2010, when we had severe weather, Telstra carried out a "Temporary" repair to our line by attaching said line to some gum trees along our road frontage. Last night I was mulling over whether or not, in seven years, the trees may have grown and the line hasn't.

Seriously, how long is a repair "Temporary"?

Telstra make our electricity contractor, Energex, appear as almost a Deity.

Got an SMS from T this a.m. saying they think they've solved the problem & to try the phone.
Where yesterday I at least had a dial tone, all I have now is a prolonged beep.

That's probably the dial tone you get when a diversion has been put on the line, usually to your mobile. Try dialling "#21#" to cancel it. The phone should dial out as normal with that tone.

Thanks for that. Forgot all about it.

Sadly, still have original problem after cancelling divert.

Seriously, you're asking this on a Land Rover forum?

On another note, have you checked the Upcoming Trips area?

Trees grow from the top, so unless the line was strung to the very top of the trees, growth will not be problematic. More likely the nails have rusted away.

Correct, Ian. Badly worded on my part. I was thinking more along the line of branches.
I might grab the bino's and go and have a butchers at the line.

We have had constant problems with our line over the last 2 months, Telstra tech came out and tried to tell us it was a faulty phone socket where the modem is yet replaced the one near the phone so he said ( which he didnt as i fitted the socket and it was covered in dust ).
2 days later with same issue a another tech came out, he was a young bloke and very thorough and found a fault in a cable in between the 2 pits in our court.
A month later and we are having the same issues, young bloke said they should pull thru new cable but said they wouldnt as it was a big job.
Since Monday the internet has been unusable and phone line has more crackle than a pork roast.

My phone's sort of working again. Still intermittently crackly. The Telstra tech still hasn't shown.

Got a call today from a brother in law who was out Nanango way. He saw a Telstra van pulled up on the side of the road so stopped and asked if all was OK. The bloke said he was a bit lost so the BIL asked if he was looking for my address
