Crikey, don't tell V8Ian that, we'll never hear the end of it.

Should that be 49 years, 11 months, 30 days, and 23 hours in front.

It is here to atm, but if we went DS it would be dark. Ok for those that are late risers, but for those of us that have to go to work between 4:30 & 5.00am it is nice to do it in daylight for part of the year

You’re still up North aren’t you?

WA being a full height state has that problem.... Southern states don’t... hence why NT doesn’t take up DST either...

DSL works in Victoria and Tasmania but NSW could manage without it. South East Queensland only need it for to work with NSW and Victoria.

FNQ in particular where I live, Cairns gets just over or just under 12 hours daylight so DSL is a burden to the locals, 5:50am to 6:50pm Wet (summer time) and 6:23am to 6:15pm during the Dry (winter)

Builders, farmers and tourism need the light and cool around 6am and most trips finish around 5pm

As we have just passed the equinox, the sun now rises south of Cairns and sets in the south until around March 15th

In December the sun is above Rockhampton a 1000kms south of Cairns.

Hardly a valid argument there Yeah daylight savings !i
We have 06:29-19:49 at the moment... and it gets longer in the coming months!

The heat of the day argument is a poor one, the heat here is a scorcher here and on the mine sites.. the tradies etc just start earlier and then pack up earlier...

Maybe a look at the chart to see that our "longer to shorter days are just 49 minutes" not the couple of hours down south.

Moving it by an hour means 6:57 sunrise and 7:15 sunset at this time of year and best would be mid summer 6:47 sunrise and 7:54 sunset.

With the humidity in the wet season, the dark cooling evening will be later meaning kids will need aircon on, not just fans, oldies will suffer, people that need to travel for 7am or earlier starts will travel in the feral animal butter zone of pre-dawn to sunrise. Some of the tablelands kids travel a good hour to and from school putting their travel in the danger zone for feral animals.

For the backpacker who do 80% of the picking need daylight, so do the tradies, they would start at first light with or without DLS as they have no flood lights unlike the mines.
