Ordering from Ashcrofts, just over the $1000 limit - anyone caught out before?

I need to replace a set of axles & flanges in one of my Land Rovers & I'm looking at ordering from Ashcroft as Hi-Tough won't have stock until December at this stage.

The order from Ashcroft will come to $1060 + freight & I'm worried this might trigger a duty/tax charge when it hits Australia. Has anyone been caught out before like this when it's just over the $1000 mark?
I could order front & rear separately but postage is bumped up a fair bit then.

Duty and GST vs 2 freight amounts.
Just Calc. It up and take your chances...

Or see if they will send a couple of “samples” on the invoice and another invoice electronically..

IF I recall all correcty, freight is included in the total for calculation of GST and Duty. It used to be when I was an importer many years ago.

Talk to them about it before placing your order, you'll probably find this may not be their first rodeo

I can assure you $1 over the $1000 will trigger the extras. I ordered some Mach 6 wheels and when ordered and paid the amount came to $960 but when the wheels arrived the exchange rate had changed and was now just over $1000 so had to pay - yes the charge is on $AUD value when landed not what you actually paid in $AUD.

BTW Ron is right- GST is on value PLUS freight.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Separate orders is their advice. I'll get the orders in this week.

I have recently ordered quite a few items from a number of different suppliers. On two occasions the price paid was well over the $1000 AUD mark. Without asking they did two invoices. One to me via email with the full price in B pounds, And another included with the goods stating the goods and total cost of under $1000AUD. One was a discreet winch mount assembly and the other was 6 Compomotive rims. Just wish the price really paid was the AUD priced invoice!! Mosy international suppliers know the drill and if its a once off purchase are probably more accommodating. I guess the worste thing that can happen if you ask is they say no.
