have to buy a goat

Just kidding about the goat, would love my fruit trees.
Had 2 goats 20 odd years ago, one got away. We border farm land and bush over the back fence, took about 6 months to hunt him down.
Just heading down the mower shop with a pencil sharpener to see how I go.
Remind me had a jersy steer here that I had to hunt down too, that went really feral, ended up shooting that in the vets driveway.
Bloody circus here I tell ya
Also had 14 different types of pheasants once and the neibours horse got the lead rope caught in the fence and pulled it down, pheasants still running around here wild and that would have been 25 years ago
Lawn mower so much easier

Damn, it would be ideal for hunting with you as a neighbour, just give you a few stock, wait 6 months and go hunting outside your place...

A friend of mine had 2 goats, one was my meat goat over there to fatten up and clear the scrub around there house... He found a Tiger snake and didnt make it... then all of a sudden I get a phone call, they got a couple of ferals wander in, now 2 goats again but more coming out of the bush... My son and there son want to hunt the ferals, condition is the feral must go into the fridge once shot...

We are hoping for a few legs on christmas day...

But the funniest thing is a new neighbour complained about goats on the road, I explained that there 2 are chained up then I got informed that they have half a dozen running loose... Funny how someone comes from the city and cant accept that we have feral animals... I told the neighbour that there are feral deer, goats, cattle, horses, cats and a big black one that only eats the internals... She said to me that you country people love to exagerate and that there is no feral animals in the bush...
She lives close to my horses, wait til she sees the big black cat that goes through her place to get past my paddock(my immediate neighbour does a lot of shooting) thus big cat dont get too close...

It depends on what sort of grass you are wanting to cut. If it's short any sort of mower will do but once you get into longer grass they will struggle.

I had a fairly new Rover Raider (MTD/Dongfeng) mower in that kept destroying the deck belts due to the poor design. In the end I had to modify the belt engagement system and alter the idler pulley location to prevent the belt shredding.

John Deere mowers are very good for established lawns but as with most mowers including the cheaper zero turns, once you try to cut cape weed and tall grass they leave strips of uncut grass as the blades don't time.

The best mowers for heavy duty work would be either Greenfield or Cox. Unfortunately they are incredibly expensive in regard to their poor turning circle and small cut width but they'll out perform any other in the rough.

I was saying exactly the same thing to a builder here the other day. he didn't look impressed as I kept saying " if you want something as good as your Deutscher you will need to go cox or greenfield. The rebadged american mowers are made for well kept lawns.... not paddocks etc...

I gave up on mowers and bought a tractor and 2.25meter finishing flail .... best thing I ever did... I can cut the small acerage here in about an 1.5hours. Then another 3 hours to go around all the trees and edges with the ride on and victa super 600.

We have feral deer in Brisbane suburbs, There are numbers in Meadowlands Park and along Bulimba Creek between Carina and Belmont. They are seen from time to time having a stroll along the 6 lanes of Creek Road and up Stanley Road. Probably going to the Leagues or Bowls Clubs for a drink.

There not feral deer, they are "deer bogans"...

I've heard about the numbers of deer in the bush, in the East... Vic has them invading the suburbs... Ours know that you cant hunt them if they stay in the state forests or national parks, only on private land, thus they stay out of range, but do know its safe on the roads, just the headlights cause them grief...

Everytime some one gets killed hitting one, the animal lovers jump and down about saving them...We even had an idiot wanting to protect fox's and feral cats...

Nearly forgot... Came out of Bruce rock bin, heading for Merriden, about 10.30 am, and lo and behold a fox trots across the road and follows the old railway into town... Called out on UHF and the truck following me said "Damn, forgot its morning tea, that rotten bugger will drink the pub dry before we get back"...
They are game in some towns...

Speaking of feral animals, SWMBO is a teacher in Canberra and got a report from one of her parents that their family went to the Murrumbateman field days and were walking past the Local Land Services stall where they have a variety of taxidermied feral animals. The student in qustion observed loudly in front of the family that "the only good fox is a dead fox" I wonder where that came from........[bigwhistle]

Brisbane has them in the Western suburbs also and in pest proportions. Moggill, Brookfield, Kenmore, Pullenvale and others in that district. Got out of the failed and bankrupt deer farms (managed agricultural investment scams) up the Brisbane Valley and followed the green pick down the streams. In Carina-Belmont some enterprising hunters tried their luck. The Qld. Police do not much like heavy weapons being used in suburbia and took a rather dim view of this sporting endeavour.

Bigbjorn, only way to get coppers on side is when they clean one up and cause an injury to them... Trouble is they also become more aggressive and forget that they are not killing for sport but to control a pest...

I have become very cautious about having uniforms shooting with me, they have a tendancy to shoot first and identify later...[bigsad]

In the Brisbane urban area you would be facing very serious criminal charges for running around with a firearm, let alone firing it. The least would be Going armed in public so as to cause fear. Discharging a firearm in the suburbs would almost certainly bring a felony conviction and a gaol sentence. Loss of firearms licence and confiscation of weapons as well.

WA laws are worse than anything you have over there... We envy your laws but dont worry, you will end up with a police state soon enough...

We are only allowed to use a firearm on private, no public land, no parks etc, just farms and forget about the suburbs, the police would be knocking on your door asking why you have a firearm in the first place... Plus to get one its like winning lotto, and that is for each and every one... Plus $178 to add it, plus the $75 for a servicability each time, for each firearm... I think I missed something...
