CRB became the RTA in the late 80's which morphed into Vicroads![]()
Last weekend a bunch of 5 retired old line haul truckies aged 75-85 average 79 were having a few steins in the German Club at the Gabba. In between all the lying and skiting was a discussion on little Hitlers, enforcement, harassment and tricks used to confuse and confound these.
We were unanimous in deciding the worst were No1 the Vic Country roads Board Nazis, No 2 Nsw highway Patrol, No. 3 anything in WA that wore a uniform.
The CRB won by streets the unpopularity poll. We were all on the road during the days when the CRB and the Highway Patrol ran their policies of deliberate petty enforcement and harassment of trucks and truckies.
Little men given a little authority and the opportunity to make others lives as miserable as their wretched existence.

I do find it hard to believe that old truckies would embellish and boast.![]()
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Personally i would have put NSW Highway Patrol First and Vic Roads (CR2nd
mainly from running south to north experience in a past life

WA??? We always had good honest coppers... Mind you haven't found one but I keep looking...
The Police used to handling weights and measures, then a group called Dept of Transport inspectors took over... They employ mostly ex coppers that are not wanted or kicked out...
They all attend the Hitler academy of transport... Real smart too, like pulling a brand new 3 month old roadtrain to bits to check all pin connections and suspension for wear and tear, but wait theres more, they did this 3 days running on the same truck...
Mind you cops tested driver each day too for drugs and alcohol, driver asked if they had any as he had no time to get any while they keep stopping him... Dont know why but they didnt like him, I thought he was hilarious..
They also tried to put another sticker on my dog trailer, 2 days after the first was put on... They got me for cracks in the bin... the sticker was removed with no work done on trailer, as dot put chassis down and the bin is not part of chassis and not a safety issue...
They wonder why we dislike coppers and pollies... They whinge when shops dont have food and whinge when trucks are on road... I wish transport in Australia would stop for a week or even two...
