Anybody had the flue this year, I received a flue vaccination early in the winter season thinking I would be protected from the flue....mostly. Being a slight asthmatic I watch the flue season very closely. Anyrate to cut a long story short I have come down with a full blown dose of the flue which has brought on a full-on asthma attack, the likes which I haven't had since I was a child in the 1950's.
I now rattle with the various pills including, Sone 25mg., Amoxycillin 500mg., Ventolin ( haven't used Ventolin in 30 years) and Bricanyl, as well as other tablets I am taking for reflux etc. When I walk you can hear me rattle from all the pills.
I am hearing stories that the gummit in all its wisdom bought a cheap version of the flue vaccine to save a lousy $2 a shot. I may as well not have had a flue shot.
Thoughts anybody!!!!!

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Hope ya breathing free soon

So far so good this year except for a bit of a cold But last year was pretty awful as the Missus spent a few days in hospital after we both copped a dose of a nasty flue that saw her end up with pneumonia and me knocked up pretty badly as well.
As we are both in our 60's now a dose of the flue seems to knock us about a lot more than it used to.
I hope you get well soon Mate![]()

Has it been confirmed through blood tests as the flu or just a bad cold. The reality is that flu compared to a bad cold is relatively rare and would normally put you in hospital.
Yes there does seem to be issue with the flu vaccination this year but it does lessen the severity if you do catch it - though no immunity if you have a strain not covered in the shot.
Get well soon - normally takes me a month to recover.

I had the vaccine and avoided the worst of the flu, but I did read an expert saying the government bought the $6 cheap version of the vaccine and it has been less effective than in the past. There have been a record number of confirmed flu cases in Brisbane.
I've never had a flu shot.
No sniffles here.
All I can suggest, Jim, is "soldier on, with Codral".
The cheap flu vaccine is a myth sorry.

What actually happened this year was an unusual mutation. You are much better off taking the shot every year. Particularly if you're old, very young, pregnant or asthmatic. But it won't stop you getting a mutated version. It will also reduce symptoms if you get the flu as well but isn't 100% effective at stopping you getting it. You are still better off in every way taking the flu shot though.
