That puts you in that apparently dwindling group of people who think that someone who has spent years studying medicine and who has kept up to date with the latest peer reviewed scientific research knows more than some completely unqualified, anonymous person who posts on the internet.
I'm glad there are still a few of us left.

If people keep using medicines that have a limited range of abilities, then the problem there trying to avoid will become untreatable and highly resistant to control measures...

Don't have to go to med school to learn that, just look at how do things on this planet... Every treatment involving a chemical base has a limit...

I have an injury that makes me susceptible to air born virus's.. cant take flu shots or any medicines...

If you want to stay protected from these things them learn how to before hand... Once you get the flu its done, you have it and it will spread...

You may call me a quack but I cant afford to get a flu and I am around people all the time... I used remedies that I have learnt over the years and they work...

Before bed, hot lemon, honey, garlic and water... a bit of ginger helps... In all rooms that people go into, I put half an onion, next day I throw it out... Air out house every day...

There are a lot of other things to do but thats my basic protection and its kept me safe for years...

Others say, dont come around when your sick, true it helps but not every one knows there carrying the flu... I think I have done well to keep my immunity up against the flu...

Now onto Dr's, do you think they know everything since they went to UNI... Try something else, uni just means they say in a lecture theatre and wrote down what they been told, it dont mean they actually understood...

I have been told that the research of an injury I suffered, is not correct... Funny, its involved researchers for the past 117 years and is still going on, but the specialist told me its all crock, he knows and informed me that I was only injured for 6 weeks... I forgot to tell him to move over so god can get his seat back...Oh by the way, there are 100's of ex sailors and soldiers that have the same issue and most die within 5 years of injury...

Dont put Dr's on a pedestal, they are only people not gods!

Some of the old methods are good, I will give you that. When I was a kid I had a boil and mum treated it by wrapping Sunlight Soap into a bandage and made a poultice and wrapped it over the boil to draw on it..........it worked. Don't see people doing that anymore. However times have changed and drugs have changed so we move on.

ps. As I said earlier when I was a kid in the 1950's there wasn't many drugs on the market for asthma, but one drug was called "Aspexadrine" which when administered through the mouth gave about 15 minutes of relief before you are wheezing your guts out again. The only long term method was to call in a doctor who would give you an injection to ease the symptoms. Asthma drugs are moving on nowadays like most modern medicines.

pps. Doctors are fallable like any body else and I have changed doctors more than once when I have lost confidence in them. The one I have now listens and discusses your illness with care and thoughtfulness and doesn't give you the bums rush, which I detest.

    Ausfree, lastly, first...

Just changed Dr's recently, still training new one... He was a surgeon but injury put paid to that... He also discuss's and listens, its been about 20 years since I have had one like him...

Most of our base chemicals where discovered around the early part of the century, in the first 50 years and the chemical industry has been slowly adding to that... Very little advancement on completely new base chemicals...

As for early asthma treatments, a family friend who has passed now, was given pot to treat his asthma, in the 40's... Dont know wether it was better than ventolin which is what he was using when I met him, but he reconned it was cool with pot when he was going to school tho...

There have been many treatments for Asthma over the years and like anything involving breathing, it gets b%$#dy scary when you cant get air into your lungs...I havent been able to use ventolin for about 20 years now, I have tried a couple of times but it just causes to much heart pain and no increase in air... Now I just put up with the lack of air and the chest pain... Easy to do if you have no choice... In my case, its stay calm and no stress, but then I dont have Asthma... I have an injury that effects the lungs ability to provide oxygen to the blood...

Anyway, hope you get over the flu quickly and stay warm...

    Cool

There are numerous varieties of the flu, so the vaccination only works against the most common ones. This year the vaccine covered four flu versions, including one which carried with it very high temperatures, vomiting and diarrhoea. Apparently the success rate has been about 60%, which is lower than in previous years. Even if you get sick, people who have been vaccinated usually recover faster. This is because the flu vaccine, like all vaccines, acts by stimulating the body's natural resistance. For example, I had a couple of miserable days and bounced back, but my wife, who didn't have the flu shot, was knocked out for two weeks.
As for success rates, I also had the rabies vaccine, for unrelated reasons, and so far have not caught rabies, so that's a 100% success rate!

Try a bit of Wraith, even if it doesn't make you breath easier it will most likely take the edge off your stress at least
