I think he is in need a a 98 TDI D1 Mario.
My brother in law was at his property at Euroa towing 2 tonne of wood, the approaching 4wd towing a trailer lost it's trailer wheel which came towards Laurie struck his D1, went under and came out the rear of the trailer he was towing. It ripped the rear bumper corner off the D1 and smashed his left headlight, he manage to drive it still and drove home to Melbourne. Took it to the panel shop for assessment and they say the front axle might be twisted. I had a quick look underneath and it seems the harmonic balancer frame on the front diff is twisted, it it might have hit that?
Shannons paid him out the agreed value of $5500 and he bought it back for $400, so now he's in a dilemma of what to do. Vehicle probably is on the repairable write off register, still to find out, but the process of going through all the crap might be too much to repair it. cost of replacing the front diff is not much, but the re -registering and RWC etc to comply might not be worth it. spending more $ and updating might be on the cards.
Interestingly on the way home from all this he saw a UFO flying through the air , he thought it was a big black bird, as it flew over his vehicle it became apparent that the UFO was a boat trailer wheel that had just come off a boat trailer. These flying objects have a potential to kill people if they come thought the windscreen, to have 2 in one day, is scary.

Sounds like he needs a few beers and a holiday...
Worry about the rest afterwards...
Was towing a large tri axle trailer once, as I was decelerating coming into a town, a tyre overtook me and bounced several hundred metres into a paddock. My first thought was ‘where the **** did that come from’ - closely followed by ‘uh oh, I’m the only one on the road’...
Luckily the hubcap stayed intact and all wheel nuts where found safe sound underneath after I’d gone for a looong walk to recover it - the cows in the paddock were quite amused I think...

My RRC was written off in NSW due to hail damage. It did not go onto the register because it was too old so I was able to re-register it even with the same rego plates.
