Why do you have cold drip coffee and then just have to heat it up to have your latte?

You would usually drink it cold on ice like in the pic, which is my favourite way.

For me, when i get up earlier than my wife i just have to boil the kettle and I can make a long black with the cold brew. Its way quieter than the grinder and espresso machine.
