Ditto on the Auto.
Ditto on One_iota's comment too.
76,000k would be hard to beat though, but 76,000 poorly maintained or rough, hard K's is far worse than 186,000 well maintained, serviced city k's.
Welcome and enjoy the world of Landy's

Hi Lisa
As others have said previous service history is critical.Higher Ks with service history is better than lowerKs with no sevice history.
As was said the price has fallen on the Disco2,happens to all vehicles when there is a new model released.
My 99 TD5 with ACE/climate control in good nick and FULL DEALER SERVICE history, with 198000ks(good country Ks Perth/Broome) set me back $14990 from a LR dealer.
Because of the new Disco3 on the market, dealers are clearing tradins at silly prices.Play them at their own game, offer them a silly price well below theirs, the worst they can say is no.
Goodluck
Andrew
I saw a 2003 TD5 Disco recently with 300,000 on the clock for under $20K. It had regular dealer service and was owned by a vet who did country races - hence the high milage.
To me that was an absolute bargain. 99.9% of the time the vehicle is running warm with no heavy braking or stop - starting to wear things out. Much better than a 60,000km shopping car.
All this to illustrate that milage is nothing to be scared of in a diesel (or a petrol - my 1988 Range Rover V8 has done 417,000km). As already said, how it's been serviced as well as how it has been used are a better indicator of the vehicles potential.
Welcome to aulro and to Land Rovers.
I would go the manual with lower km's, but thats just me. I think 20k for one with km's that his is to much anyway. If it has a service history and you can haggle the price down either would be good. Matt
Service history isn't everything. If its out of warranty the owner might have changed the oils regularly himself and had it formally serviced less regularly. It could still be in good nick.
Our Disco has been well looked after and we have a stack of receipts but some of the extra care isn't in the service history.
A good point, i service all my cars and dont keep a record. But you can gernerally tell a vehicle that is looked after and at first sight its obvious when a vehicle hasnt been looked after. If you are unsure, and an owner tells you they service it themselves regularly and you dont think they are being honest then get it checked out. MattQuote:

Thank you to everyone for your replies. I have found it very helpful and feel better knowing all your advice and help is out there as the world of Land Rovers is very new to me. I have purchased a TD5 Auto with full dealer service history and still has a Land Rover warranty to Dec 06. It has done 92,000 and has ACE and SLS.
Keep up the great web site.
Talk to you all soon
Lisa
Good to hear and hope you enjoy both the disco and the the AULRO site.
Cheers
that warranty is 100,000kms or 3 years....which ever comes first....
in your case it sounds like it will be the kms.....
if anything is sus get it looked at straight away before the 100,000km mark....
Well Done Lisa!!!Quote:
