Do you have a trail cam?
A mate of mine has a very successful side line around Warwick in trapping dogs for cockies.

I am pretty sure that rule applies in the rural areas Australia wide, If you find a dog that is causing problems or maiming/killing stock on your property you are not only allowed to get rid of it you are required to do so as it is likely that it isn't only your property that the animal is impacting on.
I even had to shoot my own dog on one occasion because it was killing lambs.
If you are having problems with dogs that you can't track/shoot then baiting them is Very effective.
You only get one shot at life, Aim well

The property we are often at,in western Qld,they are shot on sight, then hung on the nearest fence.
Similar to what someone else said, there is a guy in the area that makes a very good living trapping dogs for the local property owners.
They also bait with 1080 regularly, which ha s also reduced the numbers of foxes and cats.
Hay Keith it may be one of those Tasmanian Tigers they recon we have on the main land.If you catch it you could become famous , not that you are not already.
Anyway have a good Christmas & a better New Year.
Wayne ,
Probably a Panther!
Supposedly there are hundreds getting around.
Speaking of trail cams,
One of my Colleagues who works in Oil Palm in Sumatra has fantastic footage of a Tiger that regularly appears. They know its the same one as it has lost a paw to a snare.
The trail cams are there to identify poachers and take the necessary action.
They don't tell our green brethren about such sightings, as it only increases sticky beak tourism.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I didnt see it but apparently there was a good doco on SBS with footage of car hijackings and cut throats etc.
Seems its got the worst reputation in the world now.
I was in Mt Hagen in the 60,s and did in service training courses in P.M. and it wasnt that bad. Normal Highlander versus Pap crap but it sounds bad now.
