That almost fits the bill but has electric windows (I’m trying to convince him that they won’t break and the engine has far more electronics in it, but he’s a bit set in his ways)

I don’t think anyone wishes they still had an 85 Courier... 😉

As long as he can put a key in the lock I think he’d be happy, just doesn’t like ‘blip blip’ things. A secondhand 4x4 version of the workmates with an extra cab seems to be a rare thing. He does have the money to buy a brand new one, so I may go ask Toyota if such a beast exists new then get the old fart to pony up a bit more but I suspect I’ll be on a hiding to nothing there. 😁

His wish list is about the same as mine, though given the money and space required I would love a 110 with a 300 tdi. Fully reconditioned , and sound proofed , that would be enough for me. I don't use much of the electronic stuff in the new car .

Why does his wish list make him any less worthy of my help just because he doesn’t want the same things?

Yes, he’s a stubborn old bugger, but is a nice guy with a heart of gold, so happy to help out as I can. He doesn’t know how to use the internet or even have a computer hence why I’m assisting Need help with vehicle specNeed help with vehicle spec

A little left field , I saw a Hiace van ( big bongo van ) with the hilux 4x4 running gear .
it was an import from NZ .

    i want one .

i have no other options , except a Triton , will be a basic shirt box , it will be fine if he likes simple , there will be no comforts or extras . It will have powered newfangled winda’s .
    i know , as I have one .
Would find it difficult to reccomend to someone I care about ......
An enemy - no probs !
