Not 100% Correct.
Regulations in England mean that only buildings constructed since 2007 and which are taller than 30m are required to have sprinklers fitted. This requirement wasn't applied retroactively.
Existing high-rises in England must have them fitted if a fundamental change is made to the structure or use of the building.
These regulations are the same in Northern Ireland. In Scotland all new residential buildings taller than 18m must be fitted with sprinklers. In Wales since last year, 2016 all new and refurbished residential accommodation must have sprinklers. Nowhere in the UK is it a requirement to retroactively fit sprinklers in existing buildings.

Still, compared to here where all commercial premises must have sprinkler systems and fire prevention is taken really seriously, it's pretty scary.

Absolutely. Car park was only 10 years old and no sprinklers. Mandatory here in a structure like that of any age being used for that purpose.

It is Rick. And to think of all those high rise blocks that don't have to comply.

Looking at the video's it's kinda ironic that all the ads show a real flame fireplace..

Typical Daily Mail misinformation. The carpark capacity was 1,400 spaces and most of the cars on the lower two levels were unaffected.

Landrover set fire to 1400 vehicles

Hardly vaporized as the report says, would be nothing left at all if this was the case. I have seen things vaporised in fires and certainly would need temps higher than that. Not good though. Interesting to know what actually started it in the Land Rover.
