Seems Holden thought the IRS was ok enough to put in the VP, and subsequent models, Ian. They were just being cheap. Sure, red motors kept going, but seriously? Holden tried selling Commodes for their European flavour. And then they gave us the blue motor.

Still, I did have a 5.0 SL/E for a work car for a bit. That was something, back then.

We gained thousands of kilometres of bitumen between '78 and '91. Did you ever travel the Landsborough "Highway" before it was sealed?

True , it was all over the road ! Now my old Chrysler 360 ran without much oil , the sludge was good enough. Sadly the vehicles that wrapped around these lumps didn't make the list.
