I would think that if the British wanted to "invade" a continent, they'd have sent more than 2 naval ships......
The British didn't invade this country any more than they invaded America. (unless you count the Beatles)

After a couple hundred years, yes. The point is, the British colonized it just as they did here.
Had a chat with a few uncles re my mothers recollections. They confirmed it and pinpointed the murders to NSW. The date was 1950s!
None of the murders are alive now. I do now know of one grave stone I fully intend to **** on in Northen Vic.

Interestingly, it was the victorious colonists who waged war on the native Americans, not the British. Had the British won, it is possible the native Americans would have had a different modern history.
With the loss of the American colonies, Great Britain had to find another colony to send it's poor and destitute. And that is why Captain Arthur Phillip established a colony in Port Jackson, New South Wales.
It's interesting that although the official policy of the British Government was to establish friendly relations with Aboriginal people, and Arthur Phillip ordered that the Aboriginal people should be well treated, it was not long before conflict began. The colonists did not sign treaties with the original inhabitants of the land. Between 1790 and 1810, Pemulwuy of the Bidjigal clan led the local people in a series of attacks against the British colonisers.
I wonder what our history would be like today had Pemulwuy not attacked the colonists but accepted these refugees from a land far away.
As evidence of the good intentions of the colony towards the indigenous locals - when Phillip was speared on Manly Beach he did not order any retribution. There no invasion as such as the local indigenous population could have wiped out the colony whenever they wanted but didn't - while they did not invite the settlers, they did not choose to repulse them either - invasion no, as an invasion could have been stopped at any time - call it what is was - colonisation.Quote:

Most indigenous just moved away to avoid the invaders.
