Pickles you pretty well screwed on this . I have a new neighbor that planted an inappropriate tree right on my boundary and it's growing big and starting to spread over my roof. Reading the link below, I will have a fight on my hand. Easy to say talk to neighbor but I am not on talking terms with the bozo.

Fair enough too, not sure if I would either but just putting it out there as an option.
Maybe you could use the ‘safety’ or ‘hazard’ approach in other ways to scare them into doing something? Tell them you’re worried about a limb falling and damaging something or hurting someone. Follow that up with ‘but you’d cover any damages that were caused anyway wouldn’t you?’![]()

Hi,
Next door A planted trees down his drive in front of Next door B.
They all died somehow,
A jug of boiling water each night over a period of months seemed to do the trick.
Cheers

It’s a nightmare going through the right channels.
Our neighbour we don’t speak to(the only one out of our 6 neighbours)has a spotted gum 1100mm at the base, and around 30 M high,4.0M from our house,so as can be imagined there are some huge branches hanging over the house. Our property is also down hill from the tree.
I want the tree removed.I paid to start proceedings,(with QCAT)around $350,in September 2016,and the situation is still dragging on.Then I agreed to have an arborist do an independent report, and paid another $500,as did the tree owner.
I agreed with the arborist report, but the tree owner didn’t.So now on 31 of this month I have another compulsory conference, then a week later another directions hearing.
The whole processes is absolutely ridiculous.
Round up would have been a far better option....
Hi,
It is possible that the local brigade might decide that they are now a fire hazard and need to be brought under control.
Public safety vs falling limbs is another tack.
Rubbish (twigs etc) forms a trip hazard.
Also, remind the local authorities of the possibility of blocked drains causing flooding.
Keep chipping at it.
As others have said, start a paper trail of requests to the local council to have it trimmed. The council should have an action request system on its website. Say you are concerned about it dropping large limbs and hurting someone. If you can get photos of dropped limbs to include that will help. Keep sending your requests. Keep copies of all your requests for action.
Also, are the trees near power lines? If so, do the same with your power provider. They might actually be more receptive.
We were recently able to get several very large gums on the boundary of the main road at the front of our place at Maleny trimmed through this process.
As for gutter guard, I fitted some to our gutters over the holidays. It was a roll of guard with a plastic covering. It does work.
We have a huge avocado tree right near our back door. Its a lovely tree and I have trimmed it a bit, but it still drops a lot of leaves. It also drops avocados on the roof in the middle of the night with a loud 'Bang!' Possums fall out of it too.
Trees are great, but we have to be realistic about their locations.
