Qld farmers are being well and truly shafted by Golden Circle cannery , used to be a farmers co-op ( now owned by Heinz Foods USA). Farmers have been offered next to nothing for there crop making it uneconomical to transport. Heinz continue to put Produce of Australia on the can even though only 20% of the pineapple is grown within Australia. The rest comes from overseas at a very cheap rate.

It is a great Government we have when quality food grown in Australia is left to rot on the ground. Hundreds of tons, wasted. Meanwhile the yanks get richer.

It is disgusting, but having said that it was a Co-operative, farmers got greedy looking for a quick buck and sold out. Same with most other Co-operatives when sold into private hands they are going to maximize profits.
