Mario has has the op this morning to remove the stone. He is now back in his room. They had a problem with with blood sugars down to 3.1 which it way way to low, so they put him on a drip again. And when he went down to the op room they tested again and it was still at 3.3 again way to loww so they gave him some juice to bring it back up before they put him under. Now this afternoon his blood pressure has drop down low again. Just hope they can get him stable today. Heather

    BP is a funny thing,,
as much to do with the brain as anything,,
normally, when you get out of bed the brain says pump harder,, and it does and we dont fall over,,

if the brain doesnt want to get out of bed,,
then you lose pressure and getting out of bed is just not possible,,

I've been on that bed and watched the readouts,, easily reproduced result,, ( well not easily-- )

maybe just a bit more time,,,

Tell him I'll swap his blood sugar for my LDL cholestorol

    Hopefully he'll come good soon!
    Best regards

He has spoken to the other dr that went through his medical records and they are going to do more tests, hopefully these tests will have some future results for his other medical problems. But it will be a slow, and we might get some answers to his health issues. I am happy that someone is listening to him finally. Heather

Hi guys thanks for your thoughts. Op went well. Got Cath can in and a yellow jumper lead hanging out also. I asked what this jumper thing I and they say a stent. They found I have a distended bladder. Explains the bloating and pronouncec belly . SUrgeon said the prostate is enlarged and that added with stone blockage might be the cause of distended bladder and loss of function if not diabetes myopthy. . I will be refered the Royal Melb for further tests and investigation then decide what further rectifying procedures can be done. Mean while back to self catherising in the interim grrrrrr! So it's rest and recovery. Cheers Mario

IIRC BP is regulated based on mean arterial pressure- baroreceptors (pressure) and chemoreceptors (chemical composition of blood) are the feedback loop. The fluid circuit looks something like [Heart]Arteries>capillaries(where the magic happens)>veins[Heart] repeat (to be fair, the body has a dual circuit- one for blood to the body, and one for blood to the lungs to remove CO2, add oxygen). Like an oil filter on your car, the capillaries provide resistance.

There is a few factors to BP:
    1) Regulation of heart rate by brain stem (medulla oblongata) to speed up / slow down heart rate (higher revs, higher oil pressure)
    2) Regulation of heart stroke volume (imagine installing a bigger oil pump!)
    3) Regulation of blood vessel resistance - often in conjunction with accessory muscles. This is why old people stand up and get a BP drop... latency in vasoconstriction. (oil pressure rises when you have a blocked oil return pipe)
    4) Then there is endocrine hormonal/kidney regulation of blood volume- fit more 'oil' in the closed system and see higher pressures (hydraulics...)

Yeah, so when something breaks, all sorts of interesting things happen.
    Complex but interesting subject.
