Its a ****ing **** of a disease Mario, I have been dealing with it for about 25 years and told no one for 20 because it had a bad effect on work opportunities. My legs are better than yours ATM by the sound of it but I have lost sight many times in left eye and a couple in the right, stable atm

Thanks Blaze, my feet are in good condition, in fact I got complemented on them by medical stalf as I have no sores or the like. I always wear socks and shoes and wear slippers in the house. The last thing I want is a sore that either doesn't or takes ages to heal. I still cut my own toe nails, but cant feel my toes when I do it so the sensation of holding my feet without feeling them is hard . Wow 20 years and keeping it under wrap, I think people need to publicise it more, get more to be aware of the **** disease and hopefully spare others from developing it. Just like prostate cancer, no one discussed it.Quote:

I worked with a guy who had type 1 , he was always flat and tired, the other workers used to say he was just lazy behind his back, but in actual fact he was very weak from it, he had to do his food in portions like a slice of bread was one portion etc etc he look very anorexic. People around him didn't understand the disease.

Sounds like we all listened to the same misleading Official dietary advice that's been dished out for the last 45 + years.
As a diagnosed Type 2 for around 30 years, originally controlled with oral medications, now off them all and better HbA1c numbers, I'm equally 'annoyed' at the Diabetic & (Accredited) Dietary Industries for keeping me sick and dependent.
Low Carb/Healthy FATs diet is the best way to, at least, halt it 'now'.
- At best, eventual reduction of Insulin Resistance and no more progress with neuropathy...

Legs.
Got a letter today from the hospital to advise me they determined I am a "HIGH FALL RICK."
I notice that every contact I have had with various health carers recently have asked me if I have had any falls.
I did have a nasty fall about 8 months ago, but that was at a self serve wrecker yard, where it rained the day before and I slipped on water covered oil on concrete. My leg slipped out from under me and I came down very hard. I couldn't get up for 5 mins, and no one heard me calling out for help.So that was an accident, not a what I would call fall like they keep asking me.
"Falling" is not good,, and I dont just mean the pain and (self esteem ) injury,,[smilebigeye]
Its a key factor in deciding where you will reside in the future----
go to any re-hab facility and the first notice you see on the Patients door is "Fall Risk",, you could could be carrying the Plague,, fall risk would still be at the top---
Do your Physio Mario,, do it like your life depends on it,,, [thumbsupbig]

I told her I did go and see a council health run diabetes educator many years ago but stopped seeing her as I couldn't understand her. she was Chinese and had a strong accent and talked an 100kph, ,she would put a clock on the desk to time 1 hour and then started to educate me from the beginning of the Big Bang theory to present time all in an hour. I left confused and thought it was such a waste of time. They also had a dietician who was rretty useless I thought.
She assured me this would not be the case with the hospital's staff she is referring me to.
