Hi all firstly thank your all for prayers and best wishes. It helped me during my 8 day stay in hospital. I was discharged this evening and am back at home to recoup I still have a bit of a slog ahead of me.

I have diabetic myopathy, and 4 weeks ago I found out that my bladder no longer works correctly, I now must use self catheters 4 times a day. It was another bridge to build as this is another life sentence for me, but I have no choice.
The other weekend I was doing an oil change on Heather's Mondeo when I sat down to slide under the engine I had my left arm go numb, and it was in pain then lost use of my left hand , I went to the local hospital and got my self checked out for a possbile stroke, and it came up clear.

The next day I had extreme pain in the cervical joints, , it was the same feeling I had when my disc went 10 years ago and required surgery and fusion, which resulted in the 10 years of chronic pain and some paralysis I have now. I had an MRI and it showed no nerve compression. My GP was going to refer me back to the neurosurgeon that did the surgery, but I could not wait months for an appointment, I was in a lot of pain. He referred my to Box hill hospital to get checked out.
By the time I got to Boxhill hospital I was in a wheel chair. I was not in a very good state.

Boxhill recalled their MRI staff who had gone home for the day. I had a MRI done on my whole spine, but it showed no sign of nerve compression. Yet the doctor touching my thoracic caused extreme pain. They were thinking of transporting to the Austin Spinal unit until the got the blood tests back and found I had blood poisoning. But we did not have a cause of the Blood bacteria.
I had a chest xray and that showed nothing and then a doctor requested a CT scan but with contrast dye of my renal system.

I was then we had the answer, I had a 5mm stone that had ripped though my kidney and was blocking the tract. Infection had set in and was finding it's way to the blood stream. This was now a serious condition.
They took me to theatre and put a stint inside me to alleviates some of the pressure and allow urine to pass the stone. They cannot remove the stone as yet as the kidneys need to heal more, they had me scheduled in 2 weeks but changed it to a month to make sure my kidneys are well enough to handle the operation. Then they will put another stint in .
Because of my myopathy and nervous system damage I did not feel pain from my kidney getting ripped part as I know how excruciating the pain is from past stones.
Lucky they were able to isolate the bacteria strain and were able to infuse high strength Antibiotics to fight it. I was lucky we caught this in time as septicemia is life threatening.
I am able to get around slowly with the aid of a walking stick, this has zapped a lot out of me and it'll be long road ahead yet.

    Cheers, Mario

PS. the old saying "to spend a penny" well inflation has now made the $1.09 per spend catheters are $1.09 to $4.80 each per pee in case you wanted to know)
