To all the Electric Car naysayers - Have one drive any you will be hooked ,

The current range limitations pale into insignificance, just a minor inconvenience you can work around. And no issue at all for the 95% of Australians who's daily commute is 30km .

Regardless of how much range an electric vehicle has got it is reliant on fossil fuels to recharge via the grid or a genset unless it is fully solar powered So they are really Not making any dents in greenhouse emissions at all. [bigwhistle]

Did you not read my other post regarding this? Emmisions drop by around 2/3 when using grid power to charge a car rather than use fossil fuels.

This comment by the nay sayers has been well and truly put to bed.

Then the distribution cost of the electricity, poles and wires still have to be manufactured and shipped to where they're used.

Um, yes they are - In Victoria, two thirds of all our power comes from Power stations built right next to the open cuts and all are supplied via conveyor systems using the power from the station to run them...

Go to Google earth and have a look at Yallourn and Loy Yang - and until recently, Hazelwood. No diesel used to get the coal to the boilers - all electric, from the stations they are supplying.

Yet to drive a fully electric vehicle, but driven plenty of hire hybrids when travelling for work. Last one I drove around Adelaide for a week and averaged 6LP100KM. Travelled around 150KM of city driving each day - an all electric vehicle would have been ideal.

Hmmm, wonder if the 101 would make a good candidate....

Yep, I’ve worked at them all too, Including Morwell PS and the Briquette factory back in the day.

Feeling a bit old now thinking that they and Hazelwood are gone now...

A work colleague has a hybrid Camry. It can tow 300kg. My trailers empty exceed that rating.
