After teething problems with a dud inverter then the grid voltage found to be too high, our 8 kW of panels produced over 7.2 kW at 1pm for a while a day or 2 ago, which I think isn't too shabby for our latitude mid-winter.
As the inverter is in a shed remote to the house, I use a wireless remote transmitter/receiver facility powered by the inverter's data management output to switch on the house hot water heater when surplus gets close to the heater element wattage, allowing minimum consumption to allow the HWS to run in light cloud conditions. The transmitter re-sends its ON signal every 4 minutes and the receiver has a 5-minute timeout so that if the OFF message fails to be detected then the HWS is switched off rather then left running during the high tariff period.
