    First bought music?

This may have been on here but I couldn't find it.

What was the first album, CD, Cassette (remember them), 8 track or whatever you bought with your own hard earned?

For me it was Neil Diamond "Hot August Night", loved that, especially the intro.

I played it on a small but heavy Sony cassette player, it was a long tape & it finally jammed on me.

    Anyway, what was your first?

Either Tool- Ænima, or Prodigy- the fat of the land. Can't recall which.

Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mining (on cassette tape). Still got it somewhere, though I would struggle to find anything to play it on anymore.....

Not positive , but I seem to think my first purchase was the stones single , she’s a rainbow or 2000 light years from home. Quite a while back so I could be wrong.
I do know what I have bought this week , the dream syndicate how did I find myself here , billy childish, 1914, two from graham day and the gallery’s and the the handsome Ned’s, an old Canadian rockabilly outfit.
Next week , who knows !

    First music bought.

First single was "I'm A Man" by the Yardbirds and first L.P. was "Music From Big Pink" by The Band.

Still got a record player and both records , plus quite a few more!

    Peter.

No idea. But I never bought 45s. I started buying LPs when I got married and moved to Ceduna in 1969 (actually, I moved to Ceduna in 1969 and came back to Sydney in 1970 to get married then took my new wife back to Ceduna).

There was no radio station (or TV) in Ceduna and radio could only be received at night - and it was subject to fading) so I joined the World Record Club and ordered LPs every month. I still have them.

Possibles could have been The Seekers; Peter, Paul, and Mary; Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass; et al.
