It's interesting. The trailer is a simple low loader. It isn't a swing wing, nor is it a platform. There is no dolly. So the mass can't be all that great, you wouldn't think. I've never moved a pipe-layer. Is the counterweight removable? If it is, perhaps it should have been up on the goose neck.Quote:

AFAIK, the counterweights are quite a job to remove. I haven't carted pipe-layers myself, but I know quite a few blokes (and one girl) who have. They were all unanimous in their dislike of them. The worst was one poor bloke who had to cart one from up near Biloela to Toowoomba for another gearbox. It could only be reversed on, so the counterweight was on the left hand side. Reckoned he had some really scary moments on that trip!
I saw an interesting float today. It was a widening deck, quad. The axle groups were obviously two bogies. The rear group were conventional while the front wheels widened with the deck, there was massive camber on the front paying the group. Glad I'm not paying the Beaurepaire bill!

I have seen countless loads like this and far larger being carted up and down the North West coastal hwy and have never seen one on its side.
I take my hat off to the poor sods that have to cart these sorts of loads as it must be a bugger of a job.
Undertaking shouldnt have done that.
A sudden flat tyre, blown airbag, load shift, brake fault, add a wind gust, maybe.
