I ordered a Foxwell branded one, but it arrived two days after my dead battery/replacement issue I mentioned earlier.

I'm in a similar situation to Trout tho, but also look after dads car, sisters cars, brother inlaw's car .. etc.

    Weird situation in my house!
My son is about to turn 18 soon. Got his learners at 16(birthday present, from him mum). Has barely had any lessons, I've only taken him out 2x, and he's just not interested in driving/having a car. I have plans to get a small cheap runabout for him/me.

Daughter is about to turn 16 soon. Asked her if she's looking forward to getting her learners soon. Nup!
What about having you're own car to get about when and where you want too .. nup!

Just no interest .. public transport serves them fine for some reason.

And strangely i'm hearing similar stories from other friends in the area too .. could be "times are a changing".

When they do get one, don't get an auto only.

I have seen quite a few people with auto only, get a job, only on the condition they get a manual license,as the company vehicles are manuals.

It could also be important to have a manual license in an emergency.

Back to batteries.A stuffed battery can have a floating voltage well over 12V,and seems fine.
Check the voltage when someone turns the starter, that gives the best indication of the battery condition,if no load tester is available.

Recently one of our work vans batteries was at 12.5V,but checked when the starter was hit, dropped to 6.5V,battery was shagged.

Is that anger in road-rage type anger, or anger in having to manually turn the motor over?

No road rage back in the good old days.

We still have the original for the series 1,been used quite a few times, but not lately.

It was used quite a few times once on Fraser island many yrs ago, when the generator decided it had had enough.

Wouldn't want to use one on a diesel though.....
