One thing I have not seen mentioned is the “Black snake” straps, yes they are dear, but so is a life.
Has anyone ever used them? And good?
They are supposed to absorb the shock if they break and just fall on the ground.

I personally would not consider using a snatch strap for towing!

But on the other side of the coin how much is a life? what will happen when they say too many people are dyeing because of improper use of snatch straps after all we live in a nanny state where people have to be protected from themselves because they do not think.
As one of my trainers put it; 99% of accidents are from human error some where along the line, be it from lack of maintenance, poor setups, lack of checking of equipment or some thing else but there is always the possibility of "an act of God" . One example is an accident he attended where the driver of a crane was stung by a wasp at a crucial moment in the lift and his action killed some one. Not the drivers fault.
It is impossible to guard against all situations and possibilities, and many things are safe if used properly, but it is also nice to have a bigger safety margin on your side.
Oh, I have a standard snatch strap, but just putting it out there asking questions that's all. I like to view things from all sides if possible (within reason)
Even armed with the best snatch strap in the world there are still those that will use them incorrectly if they don't understand how to correctly use them.
Money alone won't buy anyone an instant education on how to effect a safe snatch recovery.

exactly
If you are bogged, follow these steps:
1. Consider lowering the tyre pressures.
2. If there is firm ground consider a tow recovery.
3. If there is no firm ground or other risks such as steepness consider a winch recovery.
