Holden - how long before the end?

Back to topic, almost.
I had the new V6 Commode on my maybe list , until :
From Zupps
The 3.6 lt V6 is 2100 Braked and 750 Unbraked
Ball Weight 90 kg
Fuel Tank size 61 lts

None of these figures cut it for me as an Australian tourer.

Anyhow,
A mate was given a Sandown day for his birthday,
So he took the missus car, a BMW 123D (2 ltr diesel)
Before the start, the two lads in their 5.0 Mustangs were taking the ****,
He passed the first Mustang lap 1 [bigrolf]
2nd Mustang lap 2 [bigrolf]
the 370Z lap 3[bigrolf]
So cubes arent everything
I should note:
The BMW was chipped
He used to race bikes on Isle of Man
They needed new tyres and brakes after the day out

I wonder how my daughters new BMW 140 would go against a Mustang [bigwhistle]

And to rub salt into the above,redbook have projected its resale to be around the lowest of any vehicle in its class,and one of the lowest of any vehicle on the market.

While i am not an advocate per se of 2L engines, you can get a fair whack out of them these days.

The Amarok 2L is 420nm std, simple stage 1 remap equals 520nm, get a 3" exhaust and ditch the dpf and you can choose from 550nm or 620nm.

A bmw 2L diesel would likely pump out more power.

Those Ecotech petrols sound pretty strong.

They could have fixed the rear seat issue somehow. I didnt know they were that floppy. Hmm. Interesting.

I did test drive a cross 8 once, and the steering was horrible. I read that the awd made the steering too firm, plus i suspect the dealer had the tyre pressures down for ride comfort.

I worked on a HSV x8 at one stage... what a horrible horrible car.
No wonder these vehicles have little interest or resale

That would have been an Avalanche.

I looked at one of those with a view to a purchase. I eventually decided my HSV VR Calais was still a very nice car.

It was a total let down. Uninspiring and gutless. Ride quality was crap and an embarassing part of australias motoring industry

My impression is that a retune improves the bottom end and economy of the crewman 5.7, and surely ditching the 4spd auto for a 6spd would help too.

Completely rebuilding a vehicle can change things wonderfully.

My XR6 was a weapon at the track, shutting down most competitors...

There was $60k of modifications on a $45k vehicle.
